Ops Console / Module 05 / Job Cost
Quote from the math, not a hunch.
Most underpriced jobs were never costed, just guessed. This tool builds a job from materials, labor, and machine time at its real rate, adds setup, and applies your margin. The result is a price you can defend and a profit you can count on instead of hope for.
A bottom-up estimate of what a job costs to produce, then the price it should carry. Materials, labor, and machine time at its real rate, plus setup and margin.
On every quote that matters. Guessing a price loses on the jobs you win and wastes effort on the ones you should not chase.
Enter the materials, the hours and rates for labor and machine, and any setup. Add your margin and the tool returns the price and the profit.
Costs
Pricing
Cost = materials + setup + labor hours x rate + machine hours x rate. Price = cost / (1 - margin). Use the Hourly Rate tool to get a machine rate you can trust.
Materials run $40, setup $25. Labor is 1.5 hours at $35, so $52.50. Machine is 0.8 hours at the true $74 rate, so $59.20. Total cost is $176.70. At a 40% margin the price is $294.50, a profit of $117.80, or $2.95 each. Quote it at $2 each, as someone suggested by feel, and the job actually loses money.
