A Class 1 CO₂ laser is a fully enclosed laser cutting and engraving machine where all laser radiation is contained within a safety cabinet. The enclosure prevents any exposure to the laser beam during normal operation, making it safe for use in schools, makerspaces, training labs, and regulated production environments without requiring additional laser safety controls or PPE.
Class 1 lasers are fully enclosed systems where all laser radiation is contained within the cabinet. No special safety controls are required for operators during normal use. Class 4 lasers are high-power open-bed systems that require laser safety protocols including eye protection and controlled access. BRM Pro Series machines are Class 1 enclosed cabinets; BRM Ultra Series machines are Class 4 industrial open-bed systems.
Yes. The BRM Pro Series is specifically designed for educational environments. The Class 1 enclosed cabinet design meets laser safety requirements for classroom and makerspace use, with no exposed laser radiation during normal operation. The Pro 600 and Pro 900 are particularly popular in schools, STEM programs, and vocational training labs.
Yes. All BRM Pro Series and Ultra Series CO₂ laser systems are compatible with LightBurn, the industry-standard laser design and control software. LightBurn supports vector cutting, engraving, and image processing workflows across all BRM models.
